What are the main protection functions of UPS power supply

The protection function of   UPSsource mainly includes the following aspects:

1. Power outage protection functionWhen the municipal power grid experiences an instantaneous power outage, the UPS power system immediately converts the UPS battery DC power supply into AC power to continue supplying power to the load, avoiding inconvenience and losses caused by the power outage.

2. Stabilizing effectThe voltage of the mains is easily affected by the distance and quality of the power transmission line. Users closer to the substation have higher voltage, while users farther away from the substation have lower voltage. High or low voltage can affect the quality and service life of user instruments and equipment, and in more severe cases, it can damage the equipment and cause significant losses to users. The use of UPS power supply system can provide stable voltage power supply for user equipment, ensuring the normal operation of the equipment and extending its service life.

3. Surge protection effectUsually, UPS power systems have a pointed discharge design to absorb sudden waves, avoiding the impact of sudden wave problems on the efficiency and lifespan of equipment, and providing protection for the equipment.

4. High and low voltage protection functionWhen the mains voltage is high and low, the voltage regulator (AVR) inside the UPS power supply keeps the mains voltage within a safe range for use, ensuring that the equipment can operate normally. When the high and low voltages exceed the usable range, the UPS power supply system will start the battery power supply to ensure the continuous operation of the equipment.

5. Harmonic distortion protection functionWhen electricity is transmitted through transmission and distribution lines to the user end, the voltage waveform is distorted, and the fundamental current changes to produce harmonics. Harmonics can affect the use of equipment. By using UPS power, stable and high-quality power can be provided to the equipment, effectively improving its operational efficiency and lifespan.

6. Stable frequency effectFrequency is the cycle of the mains electricity changing every second, and 50Hz is 50 cycles per second. The sudden change in speed caused by the user's electricity consumption during the operation of the municipal power generator will result in an uncertain frequency of the converted power. The power converted through UPS power can provide a stable frequency, ensuring the normal operation of the instrument and equipment.

7. Instantaneous protective effectSometimes, mains power may experience voltage surges, dips, or instantaneous voltage drops, which can affect the accuracy of the equipment and, in severe cases, damage precision equipment and cause losses to users. The UPS system can provide stable voltage to protect equipment.
