With a relatively simple process flow, it was the first to achieve commercial production. However, the cycling performance and safety performance of lithium cobalt oxide are poor. At the same time, the global reserves of its core raw material cobalt are very limited and concentrated in Africa. The local political turmoil greatly affects the stable supply of cobalt, leading to high and fluctuating cobalt prices, which is not conducive to cost control by positive electrode manufacturers.After lithium cobalt oxide, the earliest research was on lithium manganese oxide cathode materials. Due to the abundance of manganese, lithium manganese oxide has a significant cost advantage in raw materials. At the same time, it has advantages such as good rate performance and good safety performance. But its lower energy density, poor cycling performance, especially poor high-temperature cycling performance, limit its downstream applications.
